Balkan Trip 2024

Camper testing, a taste of Orient and kind of getting a dog

With our long-held dream of going on a longer journey with our campervan looming ever closer on the horizon, we decided to go “invest” two weeks of vacation (invest as in: we can’t do what we had been doing for the last two year whenever we took some holidays, namely camper conversion…), and spend some quality time in our alsmost-not-realy-finished camper. We were very excited to get out of Germany after a very long time and taste some freedom and travel, and we had a wonderful time in the Balkans, especially enjoying Bosnia quite a bit. As with any good trip, we were in for quite a few surprises, some of which would drastically change our travel plans for our longer trip quite a bit…

Navigation

Chapter 1 - From Germany to Bosnia

Because of the limited time we have, we only briefly visit the family and then head straight to the Croatian-Bosnia border, with a short stop in Slovenia.

Chapter 2 - Bosnia

After entering Bosnia, we spent a good week in this beautiful country, enjoying the mountainous countryside, small villages and the wonderful cities of Sarajevo and Mostar with their diverse cultures and rich history.

Chapter 3 - Montenegro

Leaving Bosnia to the south-east, we enter Montenegro and spend a few days in the beautiful and tranquil bay of Kotor. We then head up into the mountains for some hiking in the Lovcen National Park, before heading back north towards Bosnia.

Chapter 4 - Sarajevo, Balaton and back to Germany

At this point, our journey takes a very strange turn, and by that I don’t mean the road… After an eventful journey, we arrive safely back in Halle.
