Berghülen on the Swabian Alb… To be honest, I thought we’d be a bit further along on the first day of our “great” journey. But our long-awaited departure was delayed by half a day due to a massive leak in the fresh water inlet we discovered yesterday. Fortunately, we found a workshop that was kind enough to fix the problem on the spot.
And so we leave Schönau only a few hours late, happy that the problem hasn’t caused a major delay and extremely excited about our journey. Born out of loneliness and a good dose of wanderlust, the plan for our journey was born five years ago at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. We had already taken so many steps to get here and were overwhelmed when we realised that this was actually the point of no return: we had set foot (or rather tire?) in the direction we’d longed for so many years…
The delay caused by the leak also meant that we didn’t get very far today. We left the motorway just before Ulm to find a nice place to stay in the middle of the Swabian Alb. Happy and exhausted, we go to bed with our hearts full of anticipation and excitement for this first part of our journey.
