TGJ Entry 3: Zagreb

On the second day of our journey, we want to get a little bit further than yesterday. So we take the motorway for a good 6 hours, drive all the way through Austria and camp somewhere between the Slovenian border and Ljubljana. After we have already set up our proverbial tents, we realise that the auxiliary heating no longer starts when the tank is only a third full (we had actually already made this mistake once on our last trip). The prospect of a night without heating at -5 °C outside temperature drives us back onto the road. Fortunately, we only have to drive 5 minutes to the next petrol station. The night was saved and we got back into the habit of taking better care of the petrol tank.

On the third day, we drive 4 hours through Slovenia to Zagreb. As Svenja hadn’t been here before, we decided to take a day out here. And it’s a good decision, because the weather is fine and the temperature is pleasant, and the city invites us to spend a few quiet hours, have a coffee and a small dinner. Apollo also behaves surprisingly well and our fears about how difficult city visits would be are not confirmed.

To top up on water and take a shower, we spend the night at a campsite, also in the expectation that it might be even more difficult to find campsites in Serbia in February than in Croatia.
